Too late for what? We've been told it will be in game at launch. And we don't even know when launch is.
I agree, grouping is a necessary component of the game. CCP agrees, they think grouping is a necessary and important component. In fact, they already have developed one of the deepest "grouping" mechanics in any game I know of.
So as beta invitees, I suggest we make our wishes known (which has definitely happened) and then let the professional game developers figure out what schedule best fits the needs of th development cycle. |

too late in the beta process to be able to make any changes or fixes
Sure. But again, we have no idea where we are in the beta process. We don't know if CCP is planning the launch for next week, next month, or if they are looking until Dec 31st at this point. So it's not for us to say when it might or might not be too soon, but rather for CCP to work suggestions into the development schedule as they see fit. And again, this is more than a player suggestions - CCP has stated numerous times that group play will be a central aspect of the game.

I agree. There are some issues, all of which have been brought up on here numerous times, on IRC, etc. and have been addressed as "being worked on" by CCP.
And once more, what we have to play is not the latest and greatest build from CCP. For all we know, there are several development versions running around their office - one with full shader and texture integration, one with better communications and grouping, one featuring the rest of the vehicles and weapons - each being tested internally and independently of each other.
This is, in my opinion, where the history comes in. This may be CCPs first FPS, but it isn't their first game. More specifically, it isn't their first long-term MMO project. They know how to do things. They know grouping needs to happen; it'll happen. And it'll happen on their schedule. |
